Avalon M-Zero LHQ Equatorial Fork Mount (Bluetooth Version)

ZERO DEGREES, ZERO LIMITS

The M-Zero LHQ is the perfect mount for low latitude area and travelling astronomy.

Comes with four range degrees available:

mount tilt animation

  • 0° to 17°
  • 17° to 40°
  • 30° to 55°
  • 55° to 70°

NOTE: The Alt/az configuration is not available in the M-zero LHQ mount.

6 DECLINATION ARM POSITIONS ON RA AXIS

The M-Zero LHQ allow the DEC arm to move up and down on the RA axis in 6 different positions - depending on the user setup, allowing for fine balancing by using as little counterweight possible. In most cases this can be done with less than 1 kg (2.2-pounds) of counterweight.

DOUBLE TELESCOPE SETUP

Thanks to the Dual-DEC system, or by assembling the optional X-guider accessory, it is possible to mount a second telescope in the opposite side of the declination axis. Considering this capability it is possible to use a great range of optics starting from a small 4 to 5 kg (8.8 to 11-pound) refractor up to a double setup with a total weight of 12 to 13 kg (26.4 to 28.6-pounds) obtaining performances so good it will be over the need of a bigger mount. Thanks to StarGO GoToControl System the M-Zero can be controlled by smartphone and tablet via a Bluetooth or WiFi connection.

ZERO MAINTENANCE

Long-lasting materials, along with the possibility to easily update the StarGO firmware and software, allow the M-Zero to always be ready-to-use, up-to-date, and reliable.

LIGHT & STRONG

The mount weighs only 6 kg (13.2-pounds) and reaches 12 kg (26.4-pounds) with the T-Pod 90 tripod. Made entirely from anodized aluminum by using 5-axes CNC machines.

TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

With the zero-backlash Fast-Reverse Belt Drive System and StarGO GoTo control system combined, you will get excellent photographic performance. Long-exposure images (see the suggested PHD2 guide parameters table just below) will be well guided, even while using very long focal length telescopes.

PHD2 Guide:  The best guiding performance with Avalon belt driven mounts comes by using the lowest possible guiding speed ( 0,2 / 0,4 ) , the shortest possible guide exposure ( 1 sec is ok ) and the lowest possible RA/DEC pulse guide duration (300 / 600).

Chart

Due to the Fast Reverse Belt Drive System fast pulse guide responding, it is strongly suggested to use a smoothed guide settings, to avoid over-corrections/oscillations. The shown PHD2 guide parameters table can be used as starting values that must be adjusted to depending of the setup and the live performance, they also suggest to use the Off Axis Guider, specially with long focal-length longer then 800 mm or/and mirror telescopes, to avoid differential mechanical flexure that can create issues on the final star shape quality. Image note: Euro number structure used. 0,5 in EU = 0.5 in US.

POLAR ALIGNMENT

This can be performed by using the polar scope mounted on the RA body, it can be rotated to the upper position for a comfortable adjustment for Polar Alignment.

The standard kit for polar alignment includes:
  • Polarscope
  • Support stand
  • Scope fixing-knobs
  • Dovetail attachment with fixing-grip knob
  • Illuminator cap with red LED
  • Connection cable to the StarGO
